Casper Van De Velde

In 2017, Casper Van De Velde graduated from the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp. Together with Hendrik Lasure, he forms the duo schntzl, which debuted on the W.E.R.F. label in 2016 and released their third full-length album on Cortizona in 2023. Donder is an experimental piano trio whose fourth album, a collaboration with Norwegian musician Sigbjorn Apeland, was released in late 2020. Donder and schntzl have performed in major venues and festivals at home and abroad in recent years (Bozar, AB, Bimhuis, Gent Jazz Festival, Oslo Jazz Festival, ...). Casper is also active with Bombataz (Cloudshaper), Warm Bad (W.E.R.F.), Schreel Van De Velde (Blickwinkel), the An Pierlé Quartet (W.E.R.F.), who provided the music for the performance 'Sylvia' conducted by Fabrice Murgia for Théâtre National. An album in duo with French improviser and instrumentalist Pierre Bastien will be released next year on Blickwinkel. Together with Vitja Pauwels and Hendrik Lasure, Casper completed a two-year research project on electroacoustic music at AP University of Applied Sciences in 2020. His first solo album under the name "Simba" was released in 2023.
