Braxton Cook is an Emmy Award-winning artist and one of the most exciting emerging voices in the jazz world today.
He grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland, and in 2013, he became a semi-finalist in the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Saxophone Competition. In 2015, Braxton graduated from the Juilliard School, where he studied jazz composition.
While still at Juilliard, Braxton toured with Grammy-nominated trumpeter Christian Scott and became a long-term member of his band, refining his skills on the road. He has also performed with the Christian Mcbride Big Band, Jon Batiste, and Marquis Hill, among others.
In 2017, Fader Magazine called Braxton a "Jazz Marvel" and "Jazz Prodigy." Shortly after, Ebony Magazine listed him as one of the Top Five Jazz Artists to Watch in their June 2018 issue, alongside Robert Glasper and Kamasi Washington.
Braxton has released six projects: his debut EP Sketch (2014), Braxton Cook Meets Butcher Brown (2015), Somewhere in Between (2017), No Doubt (2018), Fire Signs (2020), and Who Are You When No One Is Watching (2023).
