Matthias de Craene ft Black Koyo

Mattias De Craene is pursuing a fascinating trajectory both as a solo artist and with bands such as Nordmann and MDCIII, where jazz, electronics, drones, and the intersection of visual art and music play a central role. Whether exploring contemporary sounds or providing live accompaniment for film, De Craene demonstrates that spirituality and technology need not be at odds.

With this project, he creates a fusion of traditional Gnawa music and his own sonic universe. In Morocco, he immersed himself in local customs and musical traditions and collaborated with musicians from Essaouira and Brussels (which hosts the largest Gnawa community outside Morocco). In the members of Black Koyo, he found the perfect partners to bring his ideas into a crossover.

Expect no slavish renditions of danceable North African styles or simplistic cultural appropriation. What you will hear is an exhilarating blend of tradition and innovation, earthy ritualism and ethereal exploration, marked by the dark edge so characteristic of De Craene’s music. He opens a liminal space between dream and reality, seeking a connection to our shared subconscious. This is not merely a meeting of cultures but an entanglement—a dialogue in depth.

Dorian Dumont Large Trio 'La Volte'
Dorian Dumont Large Trio 'La Volte'

French pianist and jazzman Dorian Dumont, based in Brussels and key member of the electro jazz band ECHT! presents ‘La Volte’.

Drawing on his experience with ECHT! which breaks down the boundaries between jazz, electronic music and hip-hop, and his solo piano project ‘Dorian Dumont plays Aphex Twin’, Dorian is now taking his musical explorations to a new level. ‘La Volte‘ mixes influences as diverse as drum n’ bass, bass music, hip-hop, ambient and jazz, pushing the boundaries between genres even further.

His aim: to create organic club music, without the use of effects or electronics, using only acoustic instruments. Surrounded by 2 double basses and a drum kit, Dorian Dumont breaks down the boundaries between electronica and acoustic music, offering a new and resolutely modern sound experience.
