Artists
Mich L.
Cortizona and Dauw affiliated Mich L. (aka Mich Leemans of Paper Hats and curator of AB Salon) is a sound artist and musician based in Brussels.
Truly intrigued as a kid by the weird sounds of his DIY electronica building kit, he never stopped his quest for more beauty in hidden frequencies and harmonics of analog oscillators, filters and tape machines.
He invites his listeners to turn hearing into listening. As an artist, his approach to sound emphasizes simplicity, minimal interference and active listening as key methods of his work ethic. His works demonstrate a remarkable precision and a natural receptiveness, focusing deeply on the details of sound and its purest forms.
Drawing inspiration from the likes of Eliane Radigue, Pauline Oliveros, La Monte Young, and Catherine Christer Hennix, the music transcends boundaries and invites listeners into a realm of minimalist, meditative drone sounds.
Victor Khaddaj + Yu-Ting Li
Yu-Ting and Victor engage in a search for ways to enhance their acoustic instruments, the piano and the drums, with electronics. Starting from improvisation, their complementary approaches lead them to create instant compositions that have rich and immersive atmospheres. The music is largely influenced by the energy between the musicians and the audience in the moment. The surroundings and the listeners become the third member of the band, which makes every concert unique. Artists like Ryuichi Sakamoto & Alva Noto, Chihei Hatakeyama and Gustaf Ljunggren are some sources of inspiration.
