Helena Casella is a Belgian-Brazilian composer and vocalist. She emerged from a very musical family into a broader artistic environment. For personal development and educational purposes she expanded her taste and connections throughout multiple cities in Belgium and The Netherlands.
Currently based in Gent, she spends her time fusing performing arts with a fondness for phonetics, prose and poetry. While exploring various musical genres, such as R&B, neo-soul, hiphop, modern jazz and Brazilian rhythms, she incorporates these major influences in her own way, so as to naturally embellish her morals, motives and daydreams. Possessing the aptitude to merge personal and metaphorical storytelling with relatable topics, she provides a sound that resonates with audiences on both an emotional and intellectual level. Her compilation of vocalized thoughts are meant to resemble harmonic and rhythmic familiarity as well as the elegance of unexpected irregularity, passionately expressed with a soft yet sweltering depth in her voice.
Helena’s music production centers around organic, live instrumentation, with minimal digital effects. "I start with piano and vocals, then layer instruments to expand the sound naturally, always keeping live performance in mind," she explains. Whether performing solo or with a full 8-piece band, she creates an atmosphere that will either be sincerely intimate or purely compelling
