Montage x Absurd

We're having Hong Kong's ABSURD TRAX over for a special event in VOLTA. As they were touring in Europe, we couldn't let the occasion slip to host them an evening in Brussels. ASJ, Kelvin T and Thegn will be performing live. Heartbroken's Liyo will be supporting them to close the night.

ASJ (HK)

“Everything is vibration, nothing is separate within us.”

Hong Kong based producer and DJ ASJ often refers to ‘A Spiritual Journey’. She first started out DJing and producing in Taiwan while pursuing her university studies in the city. Everything started from her experience of this spiritual awakening. Starting to respect and love herself more, every encounter became a blessing. 

‘The Road to become One' is ASJ' s first major work after her residency on local label and collective Absurd TRAX. Putting together reflection and introspection about various moments in her life, ASJ transforms them sonically into musical pieces. Expect rejuvenating moods using highly melodious song structure and humanized music texture that echoes her motivation to provide the audience an emotional and reinvigorating journey.

KELVIN T (HK)

Based in Hong Kong but raised by the internet, Kelvin T is an electronic musician utilising music as the means to deliver tangible sonic experiences. Born as Tang Fong Ching Kelvin, he has been honing the craft of music production since becoming 16, seeking new sounds every now and then. In 2016 he joined both Shanghai's respected Genome 6.66 Mbp in 2016 and Hong Kong-based label Absurd TRAX. He performed in Boiler Room’s first event in Hong Kong and on Sonar Hong Kong’s 2017 & 2018 event.

For his upcoming album Aerate, he focuses on hallucinogenic states and structures in order to draw his listeners into a spiralling sonic universe.

THEGN (CA/UK)

As a live act, Thegn prefers to improvise much of their set and play entirely new, unrecorded material created specifically for the event, connecting with the audience and going along for the ride with them. While the sound of the live set is geared towards the dancefloor much more than their recorded material, there is no absence of the signature screams, bizarre visual components, heavy instrumentation, warped samples, and an increasing interest in pushing the boundaries of audience interaction, all of this making the experience unsuitable for the faint of heart. 

LIYO (BE)

Local hero Liyo doesn't really need an introduction. Earning her stripes through her @heartbroken parties, but also appearing on parties and compilations like @Parkingstone, she sure delivers the mood for a strong closing set.
