Artists
Vels Trio
The Vels Trio have only been playing since 2014 but they have carved out their own niche in the UK jazz scene. Their debut EP Yellow Ochre (2017) pays tribute to the heroes of their youth. You will recognise traces of Thundercat, The Doors, Herbie Hancock and Miles Davis. Their other albums also demonstrate how they relish a challenge. Their music takes many directions and mixes jazz with hip-hop, soul, rock and electronica in an original style.

Hendrik Lasure / Warm Bad
Warm Bad is a collective formed around Hendrik Lasure. These young talents have all crossed the path of this young jazz buck and are an inexhaustible source of inspiration to him. So it should come as no surprise that Lasure is able to effortlessly conjure up songs for this septet. The music swings between melodious and harsh, formal and free, abstract and catchy.
With: Sam Comerford saxofoon; Vitja Pauwels gitaar; Benjamin Sauzereau gitaar; Marco Giongrandi gitaar; Soet Kempeneer bas; Casper Van De Velde drums: Hendrik Lasure piano & compositie

This unique record, recorded over two days in the legendary Abbey Road Studios, is a new stage in Ruby Rushton’s mission to blend different musical genres. The quartet’s fresh, high-energy approach is rooted in the spiritual concepts of Coltrane and Yusef Lateef, but also adds the influences of hip-hop, Afrobeat and UK underground culture.

Vula Viel
Vula Viel, a group from London, are dedicated to exploring the possibilities of the gyil, a wooden xylophone from West Africa. They deploy the instrument in a habitat of rough post-punk, electronica and minimal music. The band was formed in 2013 by Bex Bruch, who spent three years in Ghana following her studies at the Guildhall School in London, learning there the secrets of the gyil. Their first album Good is Good received unanimous praise in the press including The Guardian, The Financial Times and Jazzwise. This is Vula Viel’s first ever performance in Belgium
