Elisa Samoy

Elisa Samoy is a Brussels-based Belgian multi-instrumentalist, composer and performer. She plays saxophone, guitar, flute and sings, and her music brings together jazz, French chanson, soul and alternative music.

Jazz has been an important part of her musical background for many years. She also has a strong interest in philosophy, and these two worlds come together in her songwriting. Her compositions give an important place to words, which can be sung or spoken, creating a space between song, poetry and improvisation.

Her first album, Résilience : Du chaos naît l’humaine, brings together these different influences. Elisa plays several of the instruments herself, including alto and tenor saxophone, flute, classical guitar and vocals. The music moves between jazz and alternative sounds, with elements of experimental music and progressive rock.

As a saxophonist, Elisa also works as a sidemusician and has played across different styles, including funk, hip-hop, indie, Brazilian music and jazz. She has collaborated with artists and projects from the Brussels music scene, including Francesca Fulmini.

Elisa Samoy’s music is closely connected to both sound and text. Her approach leaves room for improvisation, emotion and reflection, while bringing together different musical languages in a personal way.
