Théo Zipper

Théo Zipper is a French-born bassist, guitarist and composer based in Brussels. Born in 1994 into a family of artists, he developed an early interest in sound and music, influenced in part by his parents’ record collection.

His work is closely connected to improvised and experimental music, while also moving through contemporary jazz, rock and global music. Rather than staying within one genre, Théo explores different combinations of sounds and is particularly interested in unexpected musical dialogues and the meeting of different artistic approaches.

In Brussels, he co-founded Collectif Thöz, an independent label and artistic platform dedicated to experimental and unconventional music. Through the collective, he develops his own work as well as projects with other musicians.

Théo is involved in several musical projects, including Sauvage and Aleph Quintet. He also works as a solo musician, combining bass, guitar and electronics, sometimes in collaboration with painters, actors and dancers.

As a collaborator, he has played and recorded with musicians including Fabrizio Cassol, Manuel Hermia, Wajdi Riahi, Akram Ben Romdhane and Aleph Quintet. His work reflects a constant interest in experimentation, improvisation and the possibilities of bringing different musical worlds together.
